At the 12th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge (MEBC), the future of non-fossil-fuel propulsion was on full display – from student innovations to cutting-edge commercial solutions. With more than 1,000 students, 42 institutions and leading e-boat manufacturers, the event highlighted the accelerating shift toward clean propulsion technologies, including electric drives, hydrogen fuel cells and AI-based navigation.

In the Open Sea Class, XNRG was recognized among the top performers, reaching nearly 39 knots (72 km/h) in the Speed Record Challenge – surpassing the previous benchmark and placing XNRG alongside global leaders such as Frauscher, Vita, Evoy and Inocel. Our XNRG 6.3 RIB, powered by the ExploMar WAVE 300 (220 kW) electric outboard system and a 125 kWh high-energy-density battery, also delivered a strong performance in the iconic Monaco–Ventimiglia race.

The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge confirms that the transition to clean propulsion on the water is no longer a vision, but a reality. XNRG is proud to be part of this momentum – demonstrating that sustainable, high-performance boating is not just possible, but already here.

Amsterdam, July 1, 2025 — XNRG, a pioneer in sustainable propulsion systems for the superyacht industry, proudly announces its participation in the 12th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, taking place this July in Monte Carlo.

The event, organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco, brings together top universities, engineering teams, and innovators from around the world to showcase next-generation clean energy solutions for maritime transport.

XNRG will present a breakthrough concept focused on modular hydrogen-electric propulsion, built for high performance, safety, and scalability. The system is designed to meet the future demands of the superyacht tender market and aims to push the boundaries of carbon-free yachting.

“This challenge is not just a competition — it’s a platform for redefining the future of marine propulsion,” says Herbert Dercksen, founder of XNRG. “We are excited to be among the world’s most forward-thinking teams and share our vision for a cleaner, faster, and more intelligent yachting industry.”

Stay tuned for more updates as the XNRG team heads to Monaco to put innovation to the test on open water.
